About Me

Picture of Myself

Hi, my name is Carlo and I’m a recent master’s graduate based in Germany. I am passionate about AI, machine learning, and building innovative tech solutions. I have previously developed AI-powered products and applications, with a focus on NLP, data analysis, and real-world impact.

I thrive in interdisciplinary teams, enjoy tackling complex challenges, and am always eager to learn and apply new technologies and frameworks.

My key skills include: Machine Learning, Python, AI Product Development, and Turning Ideas Into Working Software.

Projects

X Fact-Checker (EN / DE)

AI-powered Chrome extension for real-time credibility analysis of social media content. Filling the void left by the removal of community notes.

Browser-based ML deployment Multilingual NLP RESTfulAPI Design Containerized Backend Services

To combat misinformation after the removal of X / Twitter’s “Community Notes,” my goal was to provide users with an independent, real-time fact-checking tool.
I accomplished this by developing and launching a Chrome extension and its custom backend API.

  • Engineered custom classifier models (EN/DE) deployed in-browser via ONNX/WASM for scoring the verifiability of tweets, alongside a containerized REST API that serves detailed analysis by retrieving and caching fact-checks.
  • The resulting tool provides a seamless, two-stage process for users to assess content credibility in real-time, directly addressing a critical gap in the social media ecosystem.

Master's Thesis: LLM-based Assistant for Non-Standard In-Flight Emergencies
(In cooperation with Boeing Germany)

LLM Integration RAG Architecture Semantic Search Vector Database Embedding Safety-Critical AI

To improve pilot safety in emergencies without standard procedures, I designed and built an LLM-based assistant that generates clear, actionable instructions from flight manuals.

  • Developed a RAG architecture using semantic search over indexed manuals to deliver context-aware, real-time guidance to the flight crew.
  • The system's effectiveness was validated in a study with active Boeing 777 pilots, confirming its ability to improve decision-making in safety-critical situations and earning a Boeing Merit Award.
